What is organizational structure, and what does it mean as a nurse?

In plain English, the group is defined by working on a set of tasks that ‘accomplishes objectives of an organization’ (Saini & Singh, 2008). Accomplishing a set of objectives is often a heavy task, and frequently requires more than just one person. Another barrier to simply completing a list of organizational objectives is that some tasks are relevant in one area but easily dismissed in another. Hence, throughout organizations different levels of hierarchy exist to accomplish objectives both big and small. The purpose of this is to move towards overarching organizational goals in a way that’s meaningful not just to the corporate executives driving business strategy, but also to the nurse that is providing patient care at the bedside.
